On site VMI

Lean manufacturing is a systematic method for the elimination of waste within a manufacturing process. Lean also takes into account waste created through overburden and waste created through unevenness in work loads. ICN offers a range of Supply Chain Management Services from full Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) to Kitting Solutions meaning that we can deliver a host of products direct to your point of use. These SCM services are designed to improve your cash flow and reduce your overall inventory holding.

We control VMI by way of a KanBan system (establishing maximum or minimum product levels) These levels are maintained by our staff working on your shop floor and by analysing future requirement forecasts. Where we identify an unusual increase in build forecast, we support production by preparing for the increase in advance of the demand. The entire VMI system is supported by agreed buffer stocks and on-going supply chain agreements that we manage in tandem with our customers and suppliers.

VMI Case Study

ICN currently supplies the Tokheim UK Ltd at their Dundee Manufacturing Centre (DMC) with a full VMI service along with servicing the needs of other Tokheim facilities in France, The Netherlands and India by way of discrete purchase orders, blanket purchase orders using a KanBan agreement and scheduled orders.

We visit the Tokheim Dundee facility bi-weekly to carry out a full stock check and replenish all the products which we supply up to the agreed KanBan level. We analyse their weekly forecast and where there are spikes in demand, we ensure additional product is in place to support production schedules.
